NVQ Certificate in Team Leading
The duration of this course is an expected minimum of 18 hours. The NVQ in Team Leading aims to give practising team and cell leaders the foundation knowledge to underpin their role, to benchmark their performance against National Management and Leadership standards and to award their achievement with the NVQ in Team Leading.
The programme has two primary objectives:
- to assist participants in gaining the basic knowledge by a team or cell leader
- to develop basic team leading skills which are applied and assessed in the workplace
Participants must be responsible for planning, allocating, monitoring and reviewing work based activities with members of their team. There are no formal educational requirements but learners must have a background that will enable them to benefit from the programme and possess Level 2 Key Skills in Literacy and Numeracy, or their equivalent.
Duration:
- A 3 hour induction followed by 5 workshops of 6 hours duration
- Candidates will be expected to undertake additional self-study/research before and after each workshop
- Although the amount of self-study/research time required will vary for each candidate it is expected that a minimum of 18 hours will be required
Location:
All group sessions will be held at Protech's centre in Leighton Buzzard.
Progression:
Successful participants may benefit from career enhancement and/or progress to:
- The Institute of Leadership & Management Level 3 Award or Certificate in First Line Management
or a
- Level 3 S/NVQ in Management depending upon their workplace circumstances
- Another qualification at a suitable level within or outside the National Qualifications Framework as appropriate to their needs
Assessment:
Each candidate must complete to the national standard a series of assessments to demonstrate their Team Leading capabilities. The assessments will be in the form of:
- Written answers to questions to confirm management knowledge
- Observation by an Assessor in the workplace carrying out Team Leader activities to the standard required
- Health & Safety Risk Assessment of work activities under their responsibility
- Performance review and feedback reports from their line manager and other colleagues relevant to their responsibilities
- Work based evidence of them performing their role to the organization and national standards
