ILM Certificate in Team Leading - Management Level 2
The Certificate in Team Leading aims to give practising or potential team and cell leaders the foundation for their formal development. It is also appropriate for participants working from inside teams or cells, who may not be specifically designated as team leaders but who have some responsibility for the group's output.
The programme has two primary objectives:
- to assist participants in gaining the basic knowledge by a team or cell leader
- to develop basic team leading skills
Participants will normally be either practising or aspiring team or cell leaders. There are no formal educational requirements but learners should have a background that will enable them to benefit from the programme. This is likely to be Level 1 Key Skills Literacy and Numeracy, or their equivalent.
Duration:
- A 2 hour induction followed by 15 tutor-led workshop sessions of 3 hours duration
- Two of the workshops will include a minimum of 2 hours tutorial support
- Candidates will be expected to undertake additional self-study/research before and after each workshop
- Although the amount of self-study/research time required will vary for each candidate it is expected that a minimum of 18 hours will be required
- The unit titles to be covered together with their learning outcomes are shown overleaf
Assessment:
Each candidate must complete to the national standard as approved by the ILM External Verifier:
- a mini-project relating to the 3 mandatory units (700-1000 words)
- seven short written assessments of knowledge relating to the optional units, in the form of reflective reviews, case studies or assignments
Location:
All group sessions will be held on company premises.
Progression:
Successful participants may benefit from career enhancement and/or progress to
- the Level 3 Award in First Line Management, or
- the full Level 3 Certificate in First Line Management, or a
- Level 3 S/NVQ in Management depending upon their workplace circumstances
- another qualification at a suitable level within or outside the National Qualifications Framework as appropriate to their needs
