This workshop is for those who are responsible for managing the performance or others in the workplace. Participants will:
- Learn how to handle people and situations with more confidence and consistency through the recognition of different behaviour types, in themselves and others
- Identify more clearly what helps or hinders your personal effectiveness when dealing with a diverse range of people and situations
- Learn skills and techniques to improve communication and relationships at work
Pre Course Work:
- Write a short account of the people or situations you have found difficult to handle to your satisfaction in the recent past. What was it about the person/situation that was difficult? How would you like to have handled the situation?
- Complete the Thomas Kilmann Conflict Questionniare, bring the completed questionnaire with you to the workshop.
Duration:
9.00 to 13.00 (4 hours)

- Who are our 'difficult people'
- Behaviour types: Assertive, Aggressive and Passive - costs and payoffs
- Ego states
- Coping strategies
- Dealing with conflict
Throughout this workshop participants will draw on the knowledge developed through the Introductory Certificate in First Line Management. The workshop will enable them to reflect on:
- Leadership
- Stages in team development
- Learning styles
- Belbin team roles
- Communication process
- Motivation
- Diversity
