Handling Redundancy

Handling redundancy can be a stressful situation.  Careful planning and consultation can reduce the stress that employers and employees face during the process. 

This training session takes managers through the redundancy process from start to finish:-

  • How to comply with the information and consultation regulations
  • How to approach changing the roles and responsibilities during restructuring
  • Managing organisational needs through the restructuring process

  • The consultation process - including how to work effectively with employee representatives and trade unions
  • Developing and using fair selection criteria to avoid discrimination or unfair dismissal claims
  • The statutory notice periods and redundancy payments - what the legislation says
  • Communicating restructuring aims within the organisation

About our consultant

Nichole's extensive understanding of UK and European employment law has been gained from work with Civil Service trade unions, as a Project Manager in the private sector, and from setting up the UK subsidiary of a German mentoring and personal development company.  She recognises that the biggest challenge to running a business is employment law and that it is a hugely specialised field with enormous ramifications for error.  She realised that people in business need a plethora of skills and has developed an impressive portfolio of achievements, including being an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Associate of the Institute of Administrative Management, Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management, and is a member of the Institute of Directors.  Nichole is currently studying for a PhD in employment law.
