WORD AND POWERPOINT DOCUMENTS PRODUCED QUICKER AND BETTER
"I was spending too much time on creating work documents and presentations"
Background
Roger is a trainer with Konica Minolta and was frustrated at the time it was taking him to produce training manuals and PowerPoint presentations for the courses he had to run. He was aware that Protech Training Services ran NVQ training and wondered if there was a programme that would improve his skills in using Microsoft Office products. Roger had a limited background in technical IT and had no previous training in the use of Microsoft applications.
Training Objectives
To build skills and knowledge for PowerPoint presentations, word processing and other general IT skills.
Roger's individual goal was to improve the presentation of the training manuals he produced and reduce the time he took to produce them. He also wanted to learn how to make full use of Microsoft PowerPoint to help his training delivery.
Roger's Learning Journey
Roger thoroughly enjoyed working through the programme of learning. Roger found the learning materials very clear and helpful, unlike other courses he has attended Roger benefited from being able to study at a time and place which suited his needs. He found challenges in developing his work to right standard but was supported well by Protech and through feedback given was able to not only meet the standard but improve the quality of documentation produced. He particularly appreciated the flexible delivery of the course and the use of Protech's E-portfolio. Using E-portfolio he was able to work from anywhere with an internet connection and upload activities for assessment. The added benefit was that he could see at a glance how well he was doing in his studies using the built in progress bar and what else needed to be done. Roger said: "The most helpful part of the course was the web based E-portfolio it meant I did not have to wait to meet with my tutor/assessor, she was immediately on hand to give me feedback and support. It was so easy to upload my work and to communicate with my tutor/assessor so that I was always on track".
Outcome
Roger is pleased that his objectives have been met and that he now has the skills to put together much more professional looking documents in a shorter space of time. He is also amazed at the very effective PowerPoint presentations he can now produce to add interest and hold his audience.
"I would recommend the iTQ course and qualification as well as Protech as a training provider to anyone. Few people know everything about Microsoft Office software and everyone has a need to be able to use it well."
